Training Program

1. Training Objective

The training course aims to enhance the WMO fellowship students’ knowledge and skills in basic weather map analysis, frontal surface analysis and mesoscale analysis, to consolidate and deepen the trainees’ understanding of the synoptic meteorology and weather dynamics and their application in the weather analysis and forecasting, as well as their understanding of the application of satellite data and Doppler weather radar rata in short-term forecasting. Through the course study, historical examples analysis and real-time weather forecasting practices, the trainees’ comprehensive analysis and forecasting ability would be enhanced, and the idea and method of weather forecasting would be established.

 

2. Target Trainees

WMO fellowship students who have graduated from Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST) majored in meteorology.

 

3. Training Duration and Format

16 weeks in-residence training including in-class lectures, hand-on practices and group discussions.

The training course is conducted in Chinese language.
